Brief

What is GSM Router?
GSM Router is a router working under gsm networks.
GSM (Global System for Mobile Communications: originally from Groupe Spécial Mobile) is the most popular standard for mobile telephony systems in the world.

GSM Router Types
Normally we know EDGE, GPRS is the evolution from GSM network. We call EDGE as 2.75g and GPRS as 2.5g.
So there are EDGE router and GPRS router. Mostly people call them both as GSM router.

Difference between EDGE Router and GPRS router is the speed. EDGE Router can reach up to 384kbps and GPRS router for 106kpcs around. According this, EDGE router is more popular than GPRS router.

The GSM router is mostly used for wireless M2M industrial application, such as power control, water schedule, traffic, oil field, weather forecast, environmental protection, street lamp control, post, bank and many other areas.
